Lisa Cole-Jones Named Director of Development and Entrepreneurship
Lisa Cole-Jones joins Miramar College as Director of Development and Entrepreneurship. Lisa joins the College in a new position created by the District to bring parity across the colleges and to bolster our philanthropy/fundraising efforts. Lisa will be working closely with administration and the Foundation, but will also be on a “Learning Tour” at the college to learn of needs and potential opportunities to put before philanthropists.
Vernal Pools Featured on Earth 8 Segment
Miramar College's vernal pools were featured on CBS 8’s very popular Earth 8 segment hosted by Shawn Styles. CBS 8 visited campus during the end of the rainy season to shoot the segment, which features Miramar College Biology professor Sheila Madrak.

Miramar College will celebrate Black Student Success Week from April 24 through April 28, 2023. This year’s theme is Vision to Action: Building Systems and Structures for Black Student Success.
Miramar College Honored for Excellence in Equitable Course Placement
Miramar College has been recognized by The Campaign for College Opportunity as one of only 56 California Community Colleges honored for implementing landmark placement policy AB 705, championed by Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin and signed into law in 2017. The College was one of three honorees in the category of Campus wide Transfer-Level English Success.

Career Education Signing Day Video
On April 13, two dozen local high school students took part in Miramar College's annual career education "Signing Day." Students pledged to attend to attend Miramar College in the future and study as career technical program such as auto, aviation, child development, business or diesel technology.
CTE Signing Day Draws Eager Students
Miramar College's Career Technical Education program hosted a "Signing Day" on April 13 for local high school students pledging a commitment to attend a Miramar College CTE program after high school graduation.
Thirteen San Diego area high school students attended the event and pledged a commitment to study either Automotive Technology or Diesel Technology at the college. Two lucky students received the newly created Career Education Inspire Scholarship.
